Primary school teacher Agita lives together with two young sons and for her, days are always too short with the many responsibilities and hobbies. IKEA makeover will transform a room with many different functions. Agita says this room is her beauty parlour, wardrobe, workspace, library and storage room. During the home-schooling period in the spring she decided that it is time to change something. She would very much like for the room to be functional, to have enough space for all the many things and to be cosy and comfortable for the moments of rest.
The trials of fitting many functions in one room
Before the makeover, all the furniture in the room had been placed around the perimeter, without using the full potential of walls, for example. IKEA Interior Designer notices that the placement of the bed is not very fortunate because of possible draughts from the window and heating that is directly by the head. Another problem is the great amount of stuff. Even though it is organised, it just seems too much. Kristīne says that organising with boxes is great but one has to be careful with the design. If the boxes are many and tend to be dark, the overall impression can become overwhelming.
