Across the world, we‘ve been confined within our four walls, leading many of us to come to a realisation: we want something different from our lives at home. This is why IKEA opens the door to better living and new experiences by throwing its first virtual 24-hour festival on Thursday, 16 September, starting 9 a.m.

Artists, designers, DJ’s, chefs and many other talents will turn their homes into virtual stages. You will have the chance to tune into musical performances, cooking demonstrations, home makeovers, and a host of celebrity house tours from the comfort of your sofa. All in all, the IKEA Festival will take place in over 100 homes in more than 50 markets across the world, and the experience is for free, open to everyone.
By opening the homes of some of the world's artists, designers, DJs and chefs, we hope this gives new inspiration for how we use and spend time in our most intimate spaces. We want the festival to spark a conversation on how to live a more sustainable and affordable life at home, as well as a few surprises along the way.

How will you experience this festival online?

The global festival site IKEA.com/festival is a live experience with a programme running over 24 hours:

• 24 episodes from various rooms will be broadcasted at a given time, one per hour.
• All the other rooms have on demand content that you can enjoy at any time by picking and choosing among a library of your interest and liking.
• Anything you miss, or want to revisit, can be found at the same home page after the Festival. • There’s no registration necessary and access is totally free.
• On the global Festival site, everything will be available in English.

The Festival room sets

When developing the digital experience of the IKEA Festival, we wanted the different rooms to relate to what people say is most important to them in their homes. That is family and friends, music and food. We also wanted the rooms to reflect and engage with the whole world, so it was important to us that the content has large geographical spread. On top of this, we want to reveal and release relevant IKEA news and stories to make more people curious about IKEA and what we do.
