How to choose

The pan affects your cooking

The thickness of the sides and base of the pan can affect your cooking. Thin bases heat up rapidly, but food sticks more easily. They're best for gas hobs, which respond quickly and precisely when you regulate the temperature. Thick bases take longer to heat up, but distribute the heat more evenly so the food is cooked from different directions. You'll get the best results if you choose a pan that is suited to your hob and the food you're cooking.

Material

What is stainless steel?

Stainless steel is found in everything from building structures and cars to sinks and knives. It’s easy to see why it has so many uses. Stainless steel is hard and durable and has good resistance to corrosion – namely rust. It generally has a low nickel content, and for IKEA products we mainly use stainless steel that’s nickel-free. Like many other metals, it can be recycled again and again to become new, hardwearing things – without losing its valuable properties.

Home idea with IKEA: a fresh take on a 30-years-old kitchen

About the kitchen in her apartment in Rakvere, Ines said: "My kitchen is as old as I am — even the ceiling lamp is about to fall down. At first glance, it doesn’t look too bad, but the furniture is 30 years old..." She dreams about kitchen cabinets doors that actually close and hopes for the outdated wall mural to be painted over.
